Stripping, revisited…

I had no more than just posted about my experience with inexpensive “Super Clean” detergent for stripping paint, when I remembered that I had purchased a product about a year ago from VMS called “Clean Slate.” Some of the enamel paint on the SW8 cab was being stubborn, so I decided to try Clean Slate.

The product can be spread on with a soft brush, or used in a container to dip models. I chose to use a brush and spread it on the different areas liberally. After waiting roughly two minutes, I took the same brush and started to gently scrub across the surface. Oh, my, what a result! The paint literally fell off the surface revealing the bare plastic. Frankly, I was stunned. With all the information on the internet about how to strip paint, this product worked amazingly fast and easy. After seeing how well Clean Slate worked, I deleted the earlier post covering Super Clean. There simply isn’t a comparison. And, the best part is it doesn’t affect the plastic surface, which is hard to believe, but true.

On certain areas of the cab, the paint became tacky, so I wet the brush with 91 percent isopropyl alcohol which worked well to help eliminate the stickiness and remove chunks of paint.

I’m sorry you readers had to endure two posts about paint stripping, but this product is simply amazing. I highly recommend it.
